New casting leathers
My funky fire resistant leathers have arrived to help save me from disaster. This photo was taken just before a pour while I am skimming the slag from the surface of the molten bronze. You can also see the crucible furnace which is made from a scrap cylinder for the furnace body and run using a homemade gas burner made from plumbing fittings and steel pipe.
The yellow wire is attached to a thermocouple in the furnace which I use alongside a dip probe to test the temperature of the molten bronze.
